Dreame Bot X10 Pro vs. Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro: Which Robot Vacuum Cleaner Is Better?

Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro and Dreame Bot X10 ProEcovacs Deebot T20 Pro and Dreame Bot X10 Pro

Hello readers! By popular demand, I've decided to compare the flagship robot vacuums of 2023: the Dreame Bot X10 Pro and the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro. Both robots have recently hit the market and have already taken the top two spots in the overall ranking of tested robot vacuums. The Dreame takes the lead by a slim margin, but both models have their strengths and weaknesses. So, the logical question arises: which robot vacuum is better between these two? Below, I'll compare their design, specifications, features, and test results in detail, after which I'll express my opinion on which one to choose and how they differ in principle. So, let's get started!

Regionalism

The first and most important point is the regional nature of robotic vacuum cleaners. The Dreame Bot X10 Pro and Ecovacs T20 Pro are versions of robots designed for the Chinese market, so there are some nuances to their operation.

Ecovacs makes things simpler. You just need a Chinese SIM card and register an account with it. Most sellers, both local and on Chinese platforms, provide all the unique account access rights. However, it's best to check this before purchasing. Besides the Chinese SIM card, there are a few other things to consider: the app interface is in English, voice notifications are in Chinese, and popular voice assistants are not supported. There's a built-in YIKO voice assistant, but it only accepts commands in Chinese and English, and even then, it's very crude.

Connecting Ecovacs

The situation is less rosy for Dreame. Dreame engineers are implementing more complex regional blocking to prevent robot vacuum models for the Chinese market from being used outside of China. While you can connect the robot vacuum to the app and Wi-Fi network without any issues by selecting the China region, you won't be able to access the settings menu. A notification immediately pops up informing you that the region doesn't match the robot version.

Dreame regional blocking

There are currently simple ways to bypass the regional lock, but it's unclear whether they will continue to work. Otherwise, the app interface is in Russian, and the robot speaks Chinese, but you can easily install a Russian voice pack, including creative voiceovers, and voice assistants are supported. However, Yandex.Alice only works on the Mi Home by vevs. It doesn't sync with the Dreamehome app due to the Chinese region being selected. I described how to bypass the lock and install the Russian language in this article: https://robotvac.washerhouse.com/en/o-robotah/robovac-dreame-obhod-blokirovki.html.

Ultimately, we see that both models have their own nuances. But from experience, I can say that the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro is slightly less troublesome than the Dreame Bot X10 Pro.

Price

Now let's compare the prices of robot vacuum cleaners. The Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro costs between $670 and $1,060. Alternatively, it costs between $835 and $1,325. The lower price is from AliExpress. The higher price is from local sellers in Russia.

The price of Dreame Bot X10 Pro is between $600-$650 if you order it yourself from China, or from $700 to $800 if you buy it from local sellers, who can even provide a local warranty.

We see that when ordering from China, the robots are roughly the same price, but if you order from Russia, Dreame is definitely more affordable.

Appearance and design

The next important thing to compare is the robots' design. Both models are equipped with lidar for navigation, a floor detection system, and a combined station for self-cleaning the dust bin, rinsing, and drying the wipes with hot air. However, there are still differences.

Let's start with the robots themselves. Both are round, with dust collectors located under the top cover, which is held in place by magnets on both sides. The Ecovacs has a triple filtration system: a mesh, a HEPA filter, and foam. The Dreame has only a mesh and a HEPA filter. Both robots have identical water tanks hidden inside the body. Water is automatically pumped into it via the station.

There are also differences underneath. The Draeme Bot X10 Pro has one side brush, while the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro has two. While minimal, it's an advantage in this regard. Both have a carpet sensor. The Ecovacs has six anti-fall sensors, while the Dreame has four. The central brush units of these two robots are floating, and the brushes are removable and have a bristle-and-petal design. The cloths are round and lift up on carpets. The Ecovacs has slightly better microfiber. However, here's a life hack: since the cloths are the same size and shape, you can buy Ecovacs ones for the Dreame, and vice versa.

Another key difference between the robots is their object detection system. The Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro uses a 3D sensor system and a camera. Remote tracking via the camera is not supported. It's worth noting that this robot only detects objects on the floor, but doesn't recognize them or mark them with corresponding icons on the map. The Dreame Bot X10 Pro uses 3D sensors, an active camera for remote home monitoring and object detection, and dual-sided LED lighting, which significantly improves object detection accuracy in complete darkness. This is a very important point to consider.

As for the stations, Dreame's is slightly larger. The exact specifications will be compared later in a separate section. But that's not the point. The details are far more important, and there are plenty of them. First, the Ecovacs's drive-in platform and wipes rinsing tray are non-removable, making cleaning this station a bit inconvenient. Dreame's drive-in tray and even the robot's ramp are removable, making cleaning easy in the sink.

The waste bags are arranged roughly the same way. The Ecovacs bag itself is slightly better designed. It's four-layered, with what I understand to be a layer of silver-ionized membrane and a layer of black activated carbon inside, providing antibacterial protection. The Dreame has a standard bag, but a spare bag is conveniently stored nearby.

The water tanks are quite large on both units. Importantly, the Dreame Bot X10 Pro comes with a built-in detergent reservoir that automatically mixes with the water when rinsing the wipes. The Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro requires you to manually add detergent to the clean water tank. The detergent compartment is only located in the water connection module. Both stations are equipped with silver ion modules for water disinfection, which is a plus. Both stations can be connected to the water supply and sewerage system with the purchase of the appropriate module, and in this respect, they are also comparable. And, of course, both stations dry the wipes with hot air. However, the Ecovacs has an additional slight advantage: the wipes are rinsed with hot water, which the station automatically warms. I didn't notice a significant difference in the rinsing quality of the wipes, but I think it's possible.

Ultimately, we see that Dreame is superior to its competitor in many ways in terms of design, but Ecovacs also has its own advantages, albeit in small ways.

Technical specifications

In the table, I compared the manufacturer's specifications for the Dreame Bot X10 Pro and Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro:

Neither robot offers a significant advantage. Again, each has its own strengths and weaknesses, which you likely won't notice in everyday life.

Functional capabilities

I'll also compare the features of the Dreame Bot X10 Pro and Ecovacs T20 Pro. Again, I've included all the data in a table for easier comparison:

Dreame Bot X10 Pro Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro
Self-cleaning + +
Rinsing napkins at the station + +
Drying napkins with hot air + +
Heating water for rinsing wipes +
Automatic addition of detergent + Only in the module for connection to cold water supply and sewerage

In terms of functionality, I'll highlight only three features. The Dreame Bot X10 Pro only supports Yandex.Alice on Android smartphones, and even then, it's controlled via Mi Home by vevs. So, this advantage is debatable. The second feature, also related to the design, is the ability to detach the cleaning cloth holders from the station, which the Dreame Bot X10 Pro has implemented. When needed, the robot automatically leaves the cleaning cloth holders inside the tray and moves out for a full dry cleaning. This ensures that carpets DEFINITELY won't get wet during cleaning. This means the robot can first vacuum the entire available area and then mop the floors where there are no carpets. A very smart solution.

And thirdly, and very importantly, the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro has a unique "Corner Deep Cleaning" mode, which allows it to clean floors right up to the baseboards, with the back of the cleaner extending beyond the edges of the body. This allows Ecovacs engineers to solve the problem of the blind spot along the baseboards, which is common to all other robotic vacuum cleaners.

Test results

The last thing I'd like to compare are the test results. I recommend watching the video comparison to see all the tests clearly:

Both the Dreame and Ecovacs have excellent navigation. They clean quickly, sweeping around objects and furniture. There are no uncleaned areas left.

The Dreame Bot X10 Pro's object recognition system and artificial intelligence are MUCH better. I'd even go so far as to say that the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro's object recognition system is practically nonexistent. While it's more accurate than robots that don't even have sensors on the front bumper, its object recognition accuracy leaves much to be desired, as I emphasized in my detailed review. The Dreame Bot X10 Pro, however, perfectly recognizes objects on the floor, displaying them with the correct icons on the map, and even in complete darkness, it can recognize everything, as it illuminates the cleaning area.

Dreame Bot X10 Pro:

The suction power of both the Dreame Bot X10 Pro and the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro is actually very strong. Both robots were able to vacuum debris from a 10 mm gap. But the T20 Pro did it much more confidently. It feels slightly, but still more powerful.

The quality of pickup on laminate floors is good, with only a small amount of debris remaining in corners, where round robot vacuums can't reach. However, I'll note that the Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro does a better job of sweeping corners than its competitor. It leaves very little debris in the corners, which is a significant advantage, in my opinion.

The compared robots do an equally good job of cleaning carpets. The carpet is thoroughly cleaned! That's a plus!

The Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro is definitely better at wet cleaning. It's better at removing dirt, even tough stains. The Dreame Bot X10 Pro struggles with tough stains, but its wet cleaning performance is still very good for home cleaning. Furthermore, the Ecovacs can clean right up to baseboards thanks to its "Corner Deep Cleaning" mode, which backs up against them. And the Ecovacs wipes themselves, in my opinion, are better.

Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro:

The quality of self-cleaning and rinsing of the wipes is equally good, there are no complaints at all.

The robots confidently navigate 2 cm-high thresholds with wipes and are not afraid of black surfaces. Everything is equally good here.

As for noise levels, both robots are very quiet. The Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro's noise level is between 60-65 dB, depending on the selected mode. The Dreame Bot X10 Pro's is between 53-67 dB. There's no clear advantage here.

Personal opinion

After a detailed comparison of the Dreame Bot X10 Pro and Ecovacs T20 Pro, I compiled a table of all the differentiating parameters—some key, some less important, but nonetheless worthy of attention. To make the evaluation easier, I've highlighted the Dreame's advantages first, and the Ecovacs' below.

Dreame Bot X10 Pro Ecovacs Deebot T20 Pro
Price $600-$800 (750-1000$) $670-$1060 (835-$1325)

Recognizing objects on the floor Yes (even in complete darkness) No, only the definition and detour, requires some revision
Remote home monitoring Yes No
Automatic supply of detergent to the station Yes (both with a module and with regular tanks) Only with module
Automatic removal of napkin holders at the station Yes No
Removable tray on the station Yes No
Turbo brush Bristly petal, can be separated from both sides Bristly petal, detachable on one side
Yandex.Alice Only through Mi Home from vevs No
Regional protection It's difficult, but it can be solved. Intermediate level, easier to solve
Side brushes One Two
Fall protection sensors 4 6
Filtration system HEPA filter (washable) and mesh HEPA filter (washable), foam and mesh
Rinsing wipes with hot water No Yes
Washing the floor close to the baseboard No Yes
Removing difficult stains No Yes
Sweeping in the corners Badly Good (minimal amount of waste remains)

We see that, objectively, the Dreame Bot X10 Pro is better adapted to the Russian audience, it has a much better object detection system, a more convenient station, and a more favorable price.

But the Ecovacs definitely handles regional locks more easily, and more importantly, it offers better cleaning performance. It scrubs dirt better, doesn't leave a blind spot along baseboards, and sweeps better into corners. The second side brush, while minimal, improves debris collection.

So, here's what I can say: in terms of convenience, intelligence, and autonomy, the Dreame definitely wins, but in terms of cleaning quality and efficiency, I believe the Ecovacs is more well-designed. So, it's up to you to decide what's most important for your needs. In any case, you'll be satisfied with the purchase of one of these two robots, and most importantly, both are from reliable, reputable brands and will last a long time. Based on the testing and evaluation results of the robotvac.washerhouse.com project, the Dreame Bot X10 Pro scored slightly higher and took the top spot. Overall rating of tested robotic vacuum cleanersBut the gap is minimal, which once again proves that both robots are worthy of attention and are good options for purchase.
